Silver in the Sunlight

November 28th, 2010

Supporting gentle waving

Planes of bursting yellow-green

Well rounded at their face

For to meet the highest rays,

Arms raised modestly in praise

Lending simple shadows

To friends in low places

Who hide their faces

During the raging fires let through,

Left most grateful from the

Saturation that ensues

When sleeping eyes awake

To find sweet destruction

Bringing welcomed green production

To the land of slash and burn.

Winter Is

January 7th, 2011

Exasperating

Demoralizing

Depressing

Lonely

Slow and unmotivated

Rubbing you nose

Worrying snot is sneaking out.

Winter is for all to see

To see all

Naked and bare

The most genuine of seasons

Death bringing sight

Sight bringing understanding.

Winter is focus

Calm

The cold to sooth

Much anger

Angst

To thought

Purpose

Resolution

Action.

Winter is self-destruction

Surety

Regret

Bitter chill

Warmth passed up

Mentally sought

Physically pinned.

Winter’s polyglot identity

Conceals its true being

Wrapping itself warm

In multiple cloaks

Of fuzzy perceptions.

For if winter died cold

Having fallen the scale

Justice no more

The world would waste,

Awareness lost,

Loosing ecstasy

To self righteousness

Foolhardy—

Summer.

Under a Half Full Moon

December 14th, 2010

My ear is filled

With splashes of swimmers and floppers

For freight of sounds

They leave air and food.

A shell is struggled open

By rock and apatite

Deep in the mangroves.

Here I am

Myself where before

Out there I was less.

The moon mirrors more than sunlight

As I want to hang myself

To

The cone—like of a Pine—

Of worry and question

Falls from my hand to white

Flecks of once living lime

Among today’s cold sandy soil,

Orange in the sunset,

That will bring life

And a light that will show them

For what they are

Revealing more than the trash around it.

I lift a bottle high

Having left the land itself

Accepting what it gives

I stay until night passes

For a bolder cone to bear and

For a new sun to see.

Give Me the Bedtime Stories of Old

November 28th, 2010

Where adventures bring us home

To sheets pleasentley cold

And romances soothing bitter souls

Like cups of hot chocolate,

Warm as a hug from you

Sitting next to me in night light.

At the end of a day filled

with lack of personal connection--

Abrasive, sedentary opinions--

Read with me

Until I fall asleep

Helping with the words yet unknown,

Foreign to the tongue,

To make tomorrow

A little more understandable

Or at least to have the words

To describe it.

As dreams race forward

From the mind of the day

Closing up shop to make room

For evolution of a will

To progress with the future

I want to know you are here

And that you’ll tell me the ending

Before I fall asleep

Under your arm

At your side.
